Is being bossy a bad thing? Celebrities are joining the ‘Ban Bossy’ campaign to encourage girls to take on leadership roles.
Beyonce, Condolezza Rice, Jennifer Garner, Jane Lynch and more have joined forces with Girls Scout USA and Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s chief operating officer and author of the book, Lean In, to ban the word ‘bossy.’
The new campaign aim’s to strike back at the double standard when it comes to female leadership and to encourage today’s youths to be leaders.
The PSA is backed by several strong female leaders including NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson, who delivers a powerful message, along with ‘Glee’ star Jane Lynch saying; “I think the word ‘bossy’ is just a squasher.”
Beyonce also delivered the most powerful line of the entire clip, “I’m not bossy, I’m the Boss.”
According to Sandberg, “How are we supposed to level the playing field for girls and women if we discourage the very traits that get them there?”
